Keeping Arcola Clean and Green

 

Garbage & Recycling Services
The Town of Arcola contracts GFL Environmental to provide garbage and recycling collection for the community. These essential services help keep our town clean and environmentally responsible.

 

Garbage Pickup

• Collected weekly on Fridays

• Please have your bins placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day.

• Ensure all waste is bagged and securely placed inside your bin with the lid closed.

 

Recycling Pickup

• Collected bi-weekly on Mondays

• Arcola uses a single-stream recycling system, which means no sorting is required.​

What Can Be Recycled:

Place the following items loosely in your blue recycling cart:

• Cardboard and paper

• Newspapers and magazines

• Tin and aluminum cans

• Milk cartons and juice boxes

• Plastic containers (#1 through #7 – check the number on the bottom)

• Beer and pop cans

• Glass liquor bottles

 

Important:

• Rinse all containers and remove caps or lids.

• Flatten cardboard if possible but do not bag recyclables.

What Cannot Be Recycled:

Please do not place the following in your recycling cart:

• Food-contaminated cardboard or containers

• Soiled tissues or paper towels

• Styrofoam

• Household garbage

• Hazardous materials (e.g., paint, chemicals)

• Construction materials (e.g., drywall, wood, insulation)

• Tires

• Oil or oil containers
